We have been trying to plan a camping trip with our friends for months, but we couldn't ever find a time that was good for everyone. So, the next best thing was a day trip to the mountains! The 7 of us decided to drive up to Dahlonega, Georgia first and just walk around and explore the square. First Stop was The Fudge Factory.
There was so much to choose from! The caramel apples looked so pretty in the window! Look at that huge vat of caramel... Yum!
I walked around the shop a few times before I made my decision.
My husband decided on Vanilla Peanut Butter Fudge & I got two Tomahawk cookies, which is basically like a homemade Samoa Girl Scout Cookie--My favorite!
Next we walked to the Dahlonega General Store. It was full of all sorts of little trinkets and mountain souvenirs. We didn't buy anything, but the store was literally packed wall to wall with stuff, so we were in there for a while.
I don't think I would ever do it, but I have always been intrigued by hiking the entire Appalachian Trail. I really enjoyed looking at all the books!
Yes. That does say Possum. Gross.
The Humble Candle was my favorite store that we went in. It was so cute and just full of home decor that was just my style. They had TONS of homemade candles that all smelt amazing. I ended up just buying one candle: a Christmas scent called Mistletoe Kisses, but I could have bought all of them!
Next was coffee at the Picnic Cafe, more walking around and a photo shoot, of course!
The weather could not have been more perfect for exploring... Barely a cloud in the sky!
This is the third year we have been to this particular corn maze and it's always so fun!
Funnel cakes were first; Priorities People! Then we headed into the maze. We got lost a few times so we didn't finish before dark, but we were all having so much fun together it really didn't matter!
After a long day of riding in the car and walking (over 5 miles according to my iPhone), we were tired and hungry! We decided on The Varsity JR for supper. I meant to take a picture of my food, but I ate it all before I remembered!
Honestly, I think day trips are the best thing for a big group of people. It keeps the cost lower and it's easier to coordinate work/school schedules around one day rather than a whole week or weekend! We had so much fun and we are already planning our next day trip!
